I was so looking forward to seeing baby bunny reunite with mama bunny. The result took my breath away. Poor baby bunny, but some birds will live on now.

Well think of it this way the bird seen mommy first, it had to been getting ready to swoop mom and a easier option came up, so in a way they saved the moms life so she can continue to raise the other ones. This also why you don't let small dogs outside without looking at your roof or trees first.
